Bounce House Rental Checklist: Plan the Perfect Party

Throwing a party or event soon? A bounce house can be the main attraction! It keeps kids busy, brings tons of fun, and makes your event one to remember.

But before you rent one, there are a few important things you should know. If you skip the details, things could go wrong. Don’t worry.

This easy Bounce House Rental Checklist will walk you through everything, from safety tips to setup rules, so you can plan like a pro and keep the fun going strong.

Why You Need a Bounce House Rental Checklist

Renting a bounce house sounds fun, right? It definitely is! But it's also a big responsibility. If you don’t plan ahead, you might end up dealing with surprise costs, safety problems, or things just not going smoothly.

This checklist will help you ask the right questions, choose a good company like Kangaroo Bounce Party, and make sure your event goes well from start to finish. Think of it like a simple guide to a fun and stress-free party.

Think About Your Event Needs

Before you start looking at bounce house options, take a few minutes to plan out what you actually need.

• Age group matters: Are your guests mostly toddlers, older kids, or a mix of both? Younger kids do better with smaller bounce houses. Older kids or teens may enjoy ones with extra features like slides or obstacle courses.

• Count your guests: Most bounce houses hold 5 to 10 kids at one time. If you expect a lot of kids, choose a bigger one or be ready to rotate turns. Too many kids inside at once can be dangerous.

• Pick a theme: Many companies offer themed bounce houses like superheroes or princess castles. Matching the bounce house to your party theme makes everything more exciting.

• Know how long you need it: Some places charge by the hour, while others let you keep it all day. Decide how long your party will be so you’re not caught off guard by extra fees.

Planning all of this early will help you pick the right size, style, and rental time without wasting money.

Choose a Reputable Rental Company

Not every rental company is the same. Some are great, and others not so much. Here's how to find the right one:

• Read reviews: Go to websites like Google or Yelp and see what other people say. If a company has lots of 4 or 5-star reviews, it’s probably a good choice.

• Check for licenses and insurance: A professional company should be able to show proof that they are allowed to run their business and that they have insurance. This helps keep everyone safe if something goes wrong.

• Ask how they clean: Bounce houses get dirty fast, so they should be cleaned and sanitized between uses. Ask how they handle cleaning.

• Compare prices: Renting a bounce house usually costs between $100 and $300 for four to six hours. Get quotes from a few places and see which one gives you the best value.

Doing a little homework now can save you a big headache later.

Confirm Safety Standards

Safety is super important when it comes to bounce houses. If they are not set up right or are in bad shape, kids can get hurt. In fact, around 10,000 kids in the U.S. get injured in bounce houses every year, according to safety experts.

• Look for safety certificates: A well-made bounce house should be made of strong, commercial-grade materials and approved by safety organizations like ASTM International.

• Ask about how it’s held down: The bounce house must be secured to the ground with stakes or sandbags. This helps keep it from tipping over or flying away, especially outside.

• Supervision matters: Some companies send a trained worker to watch over the bounce house during the party. If they don’t, you’ll need a trusted adult to watch the kids the whole time.

• Learn the rules: A good company will give you a list of safety rules like no shoes, no pushing, and not too many kids at once. Make sure everyone knows the rules before jumping in.

Being safe means everyone can enjoy the fun without anyone getting hurt.

Check Your Event Location

Where you’re setting up the bounce house is just as important as the bounce house itself. Whether it’s in your backyard or at a public park, the spot needs to be ready.

• Measure the space: Most bounce houses need a flat area that’s at least 15 by 15 feet. You’ll also need extra room for things like blowers and steps.

• Know the ground type: Grass is the best surface for bounce houses because it’s easy to anchor them. Concrete or pavement might not work without special equipment.

• Find a power source: Bounce houses need a blower that runs the whole time, which means you’ll need an outlet nearby. If there isn’t one, ask the rental company if they can bring a generator.

• Check for permits: If you’re setting up in a public space like a park, you may need a permit. Contact your local city office to make sure it’s allowed.

Getting the location ready ahead of time means no last-minute problems when the bounce house arrives.

Understand Rental Terms and Policies

Before you agree to rent a bounce house, make sure you understand all the rules. Reading the contract carefully can help you avoid surprise fees.

• Delivery and setup fees: Some companies include delivery and setup in the price. Others charge more if the location is far. Always ask what is included.

• Cancellation rules: If you need to cancel because of weather or other problems, ask how much notice is required. Many companies ask for 24 to 48 hours’ notice.

• Who pays for damage: Normal use is usually fine, but if the bounce house is damaged on purpose, you might have to pay for repairs. Ask what you are responsible for.

• Late return fees: If your party goes longer than planned, you might be charged extra. Ask how long the rental lasts and what happens if you need more time.

Understanding the rules ahead of time helps you plan better and avoid problems later.

Plan for Weather Conditions

Bounce houses are not safe in bad weather. Always check the forecast before your event.

• Wind: Strong winds can lift or tip over a bounce house. If wind speeds are over 15 to 20 miles per hour, it’s not safe to use. Ask the company about their wind policy.

• Rain: A wet bounce house is slippery and unsafe. Ask if the company provides covers or if they let you cancel or reschedule due to rain.

• Heat: On hot days, kids can overheat. Set up the bounce house in a shady area or use a canopy to keep things cooler.

Always have a backup plan, like moving the party indoors or changing the date if needed.

Communicate with the Rental Company

Good communication helps your event run smoothly. Ask questions and confirm all details ahead of time.

• Delivery time: Ask when the bounce house will arrive. Most companies try to deliver one or two hours before the event starts.

• Pickup time: Ask when the bounce house will be taken down and if you need to be there when they pick it up.

• Emergency contact: Get a phone number you can call during the event if something breaks or stops working.

• Extra features: If you want to add slides, water parts, or more hours, talk about it early. Ask about the cost and availability.

Clear planning with the company helps you avoid stress and keeps the fun going.

Final Thoughts

Renting a bounce house can make your event a lot more fun, but it takes some planning. Use this checklist to help you get everything right.

Think about what you need, find a good rental company, make safety a priority, check your event space, understand the rental rules, plan for the weather, and talk clearly with the company.

If you plan ahead, your bounce house will be fun, safe, and easy to manage. With the right steps, it can be the best part of your party instead of something stressful.
